LAS VEGAS, Nev. (CTIA Wireless) - April 2, 2008 - Subscribers to China's leading digital music service will now be among the first to know about the latest music on the scene thanks to integration of technology from Gracenote. A8 Music Group today announced the launch of its first and exclusive mobile subscription service in China, including Hong Kong and Macau, allowing users to instantly identify music being played in their vicinity and download it to their phone for immediate playback.
Using Gracenote's popular Mobile MusicID(r), the new service allows A8 subscribers to retrieve song, album and artist information in seconds by simply holding up their phone to music, whether it's at a party, in the car or at a restaurant. Additionally, if the music is part of A8's subscription catalog, users can now instantly download it to their phone, enabling them to add music to their collection as soon as they hear it.
A8's new music service also provides a PC companion application which is enhanced with Gracenote's MusicID solution for CDs and digital files. A8 subscribers will now be able to import their own music, whether it's from a CD or downloaded from a website, and be ensured that their entire library will be complete, correct and consistent wherever they go.
Analysts estimate that China's digital music market will reach $1.8 billion by 2010, which is only possible through tools and technology that enable music to be identified and delivered across multiple devices as consumer demand explodes.
